If one were to pinpoint when the band started to sound like the band, it might be this one. Splitting the difference between the first album’s moodiness and abstraction with the second’s pop-forward approach, with highlights including Navigating Flood Regions, An Earful o’ Wax, Short on Posters, and Liar’s Tale among others. SIAN is also notable for only appearance of drummer Bruce Greenwald, whose snare work paired with Wilbur’s face-melting solo on Earful ‘o Wax is pure rock bliss. Plus Peyton Eric makes a welcome return to the kit on half the tracks.
